16 California Food Producer EDITION 1, 2018 Attendance Increases Seven Percent at Food Processing By LISA JAGER - CLFP Marketing & Communications Director Attendance at Food Processing Expo 2018 increased seven percent, exceeding 2,700 for the first time, and featured 65 new exhibitors. The Expo was held February 21-22 at the Sacramento Convention Center. MSNBC Political Analyst Steve Schmidt kicked off the Expo as the keynote speaker with an energetic presentation about the current and changing political landscape in Washington, D.C. During the two-day Expo, attendees visited the expansive trade show floor and attended educational seminars. CLFP’s three new lounges, named after well-known Sacramento locations, were well utilized and received. The Midtown Lounge featured CLFP’s annual Veggie, Fruit & Nut Putting contest, while the King’s Lounge hosted a new activity – a Hoop Shooting Contest – to raise money for CLFP’s scholarship program – and the Capitol Lounge provided a place to network and relax. The Expo featured two days of Educational Sessions, providing information on a wide variety of topics of interest to the food processing industry from Navigating Legal Medical Marijuana in the Workplace to Principles of Sanitary Design to Finding a Co-Packer and more.
