18 News & Views Magazine EDITION 1, 2017 Record Attendance A record 2,500 food processors and industry suppliers attended the CLFP 2017 Food Processing Expo held February 8-9 in Sacramento. Over 270 companies exhibited a wide range of the newest products and services for the food processing industry. In addition to the packed trade show floor, educational workshops on a wide array of topics attracted large audiences. Workshops included those on food safety regulations, organic certification, Proposition 65 food labeling litigation, how to find a co-packer, water conserva- tion best practices, cyber security recommendations for businesses, and services available for developing and testing new food products. Gary Heil was the keynote speaker at the Expo Kickoff Breakfast. Heil gave an inspiring presentation about motivating workers and developing a positive corporate culture. The General Session Breakfast speaker featured Keith Nunes, the executive editor of Food Business News, who gave an insightful presentation about the latest consumer trends and how they are changing the food processing industry. The Suppliers Host Council Silent Auction Reception provided an excellent opportunity for processors and suppliers to network with industry colleagues and raised over $20,000 for the CLFP student scholarship fund. at the CLFP 2017 Food Each year the Silent Auction at the Expo raises funds for CLFP’s student scholarship program. CLFP conducted its first-ever student speed interviewing event at the Expo. Educational workshops on the Expo show floor covered a wide variety of topics of interest to food processors.
